The Harbor View Gallery

Views of the Harbor

This brand-new space boasts floor to ceiling windows and beautiful hardwood floors. The Harbor View Gallery as part of the Wattles Jacobs Education Center opens onto a spacious deck overlooking the New Bedford Harbor.

The Bourne Building

Home of the Lagoda

A premier space featuring gleaming hardwood floors and a huge ship model. The ½ scale model is 59’ in length and 50’ in height! There is a mezzanine surrounding the room for additional aerial viewing space for guests.

The Plaza

Open Courtyard at the Top of Johnny Cake Hill

When paired with the Jacobs Family Gallery, this open courtyard is perfect for ceremonies or cocktails. It is nestled at the top of Johnny Cake Hill along cobblestone streets, offering a classic and historic New England feel.

Our vast and diverse knowledge of the hospitality industry allows RM Catering & Events the ability to understand what makes a venue appealing to our customers. Since taking over sales management at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, we have helped countless clients utilize the beauty and value this unique location has to offer.


Function hours are for a five-hour period starting from 5:30 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. The bride and vendors are allowed access to the facility three hours prior to the start of the event.

Fees & Overtime

The lessee will pay a $750 security deposit prior to the contract being signed to book the day. This will be refunded to the lessee 30 days after the function provided the property is left intact.

Rental rates range from $600 to $1,000 per hour based on the day and include two rooms. Corporate meeting rates are incurred on an hourly basis with a 3 hour minimum.

There is an additional fee of $500 for an additional half-hour and $750 for an onsite ceremony. Liquor service is allowed for a four and a half-hour period.

Furniture Rental

Tables and chairs are rented through the Whaling Museum from an approved rental vendor.
