Kristi & Brent hosted an October wedding at the Providence Public Library, with an event aesthetic that was vintage, detail-oriented, and a little bit glam.
Early in the planning process, the couple was set on a venue by the water, but fell in love with the Library’s stunning architecture and rich design, as well as what surrounding downtown Providence had to offer their guests, who were traveling in from around the world. The venue’s abundant offerings allowed the couple to focus on the experience of the wedding – how guests would feel – rather than fretting over decor.
A classic 1956 red Cadillac convertible brought the couple from The Graduate hotel to the Library. When guests arrived, a welcome table included a unique ‘guestbook’ – a DIYed vintage phone where guests could call and leave voicemails. And as a tribute to the bride’s late father, a request for guests to call their dads if they were able.
To complement the venue, the couple wove in subtle library elements throughout their celebration. The ceremony featured a ‘writer's table,’ with a typewriter, copies of the children's books that would be read from during the ceremony, and preserved roses. A card catalog housed escort cards that the bride made from vintage catalog cards, and stacks of books that were used as part of the centerpieces.
The reception decor included flowers made from wood and paper, framed table numbers with a poem relevant to each table, and other vintage touches like old cameras and vinyl records with their wedding songs on them.
From the bride: “When you hear the word ‘library,’ something specific comes to mind, and when you walk into the Providence Public Library, that something specific transforms into something magical. Our vendors sustained that magic throughout the night. I think part of that was because guests felt like they were literally walking into a story.”
And some words on our partnership: “Everything was amazing, and all of our guests raved about the food. Our experience with the Rusell Morin team was incredibly smooth. We started with one coordinator who really sold us on the venue, but our second coordinator was just as great. Maggie was a sweet and calming presence throughout the process, and every single staff member worked together wonderfully. We cannot say enough good things about the staff (and the food!)."
