Step On In

Tucked behind a brick archway on Bellevue Avenue, amidst the bustle of downtown Newport, the International Tennis Hall of Fame occupies a world apart. Step through the archways and the city recedes. In its place: sweeping grass courts framed by Victorian architecture, red brick pathways, and the particular quiet of a place with great history behind it.

It's the kind of setting that does not require embellishment. It requires an event team that knows how to honor it.

Knowing a property means knowing how an event actually behaves in it. Where culinary production happens. How guests move between the Porch and the Court. Where a bar keeps a line from forming in the wrong place. How rentals arrive and when. How a service team moves through the evening without ever becoming part of it. Partnering with Russell Morin Catering & Events at the International Tennis Hall of Fame means that none of that gets figured out for the first time at your wedding — our team arrives with a deep understanding of the property's rhythms, its light, and the logistical precision it rewards.

Russell Morin's experience at the International Tennis Hall of Fame extends far beyond weddings and private events. For more than a decade, Russell Morin has catered the Hall of Fame Open, supporting nine days of tournament operations across the property.

Each day, our team serves more than 3,000 players, sponsors, staff, volunteers, media, and attendees, from player meals and concessions to VIP and sponsor hospitality. That experience has given us a deep understanding of the property that only comes from operating within it, year after year, at scale. We know how food moves through the property, how guests move through the spaces, where culinary production needs to happen, and what it takes to deliver exceptional hospitality here consistently.

For our private-event clients, that experience matters. Your wedding may look very different from tournament week, but the knowledge of the property, operational planning, and team behind it comes with us.

Spaces That Set the Scene

Horseshoe Piazza & Court

What we love it for:
Its versatility. The Horseshoe Piazza & Court works beautifully for weddings, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, social celebrations and corporate events. The covered Piazza and historic grass court can work together as one experience, allowing guests to dine, gather and move through one of the most distinctive settings at the Hall of Fame.

What couples should consider:
Guest count affects much more than seating capacity. It influences how much of the court becomes part of the event, where cocktails and dinner take place, circulation, bar placement, and service flow. The goal isn't simply to fit the event into the space, but to preserve what makes the setting special.

Don't treat the grass court as simply the backdrop — it can become part of the experience. Depending on the event, guests can enjoy croquet, lawn games, or even period tennis players, creating something that feels uniquely connected to the Hall of Fame rather than an event that could have happened anywhere.

Spaces That Set the Scene

Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch

What we love it for:
The intimacy. The Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch is especially beautiful for a plated dinner — set around one long table on the porch overlooking the Horseshoe Court, making it a natural fit for rehearsal dinners and smaller celebrations.

What couples should consider:
The Museum Galleries can add another layer to the experience. Guests can explore the museum before cocktail hour, either on their own or as part of a guided tour, bringing the history of the Hall of Fame into the evening.
The Gallery, Porch, Museum Galleries, and Horseshoe Piazza are distinct event spaces and experiences. If you're interested in using multiple areas as part of your event, availability and access should be discussed with the International Tennis Hall of Fame when securing your spaces.

Use the spaces together. Start with time in the Museum Galleries, gather for an intimate dinner on the Hall of Famer's Porch, then transition to the Horseshoe Piazza for a larger welcome reception. It creates a natural progression throughout the evening and allows each space to serve a different purpose. The Porch can also be an important part of an inclement weather ceremony plan, depending on the spaces you've secured and your guest count.

Spaces That Set the Scene

Upper & Lower East Porches

What we love it for:
The opportunity to create a multi-level experience. The Upper and Lower East Porches offer two distinct settings within the same part of the property, giving an event the ability to evolve throughout the evening.

What couples should consider:
Availability is limited, even during the Hall of Fame's event season, so these spaces may not be an option for every date. Accessibility should also be part of the conversation when considering the Upper East Porch, as access to the upper level requires stairs. If you have guests with mobility considerations, talk with the Hall of Fame about accessibility and available options before determining how you'd like to use the space.

Lean into the multi-level experience. Start with an intimate dinner upstairs on the Upper East Porch, then bring guests downstairs to the Lower East Porch for a larger welcome reception. The move creates a natural shift in energy and gives the evening a second chapter without guests ever leaving the property.

With Deep Venue Experience, Every Detail Falls Into Place

We turn thoughtful plans into seamless celebrations.

There is a particular confidence that comes from having produced hundreds of events at the same property. Knowing how the grass courts shape guest flow, layout, and service timing. Which decisions hold an evening together, and allow it to unfold seamlessly. It is the kind of familiarity that brings ease to every moment, from the earliest plans through the final farewell. That is what Russell Morin Catering & Events brings to every event at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Institutional knowledge across culinary, hospitality, logistics, staffing, and event production ensures that the details a couple imagines on paper become the details guests actually experience on the courts. This is a full-service team: dedicated event producers, culinary specialists, hospitality staff, and logistics coordinators who have built events at this property before and know exactly what an exceptional one requires.

A Menu Written for The Venue, The Season, The Couple

A culinary team that turns food into an experience.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame calls for food that matches its setting: fresh, elegant, and rooted in Newport's coastal character.

The Russell Morin culinary team builds each menu here around seasonal ingredients, coastal seafood, and the kind of presentation that turns a course into something guests remember. For couples who want to weave the spirit of the game into the evening, the team has crafted tennis-inspired touches that nod to the sport without announcing themselves: hors d'oeuvres passed on vintage rackets, melon spritzes in the colors of the grass court, gin-forward cocktails built for warm Newport nights.

Dessert spreads of French macarons, mini crème brûlée, and petite éclairs keep guests moving through the grounds, a deliberate choice when the setting itself is part of the experience.

Every menu is developed through Russell Morin's private tasting experience and structured planning process, with inclusive cost estimates that account for guest count, menu complexity, staffing, rentals, and bar service, so couples understand the full scope of their event long before the day arrives.

Iconic For Any Part of Your Wedding Weekend

A rare Newport landmark that suits every celebration.

For out-of-town guests arriving at the start of a wedding weekend, the Hall of Fame sets an immediate tone for a Welcome Party. A signature cocktail in hand, grass courts underfoot, Newport's storied atmosphere as the backdrop. It is the kind of arrival that primes everyone for the celebration ahead.

The Hall of Fame is also a natural choice for the night before: historic, intimate when it needs to be, and surprising in the best possible way. Guests who arrive expecting a standard rehearsal dinner leave with something they talk about for years.

Now to the wedding reception. A full evening on the Horseshoe Piazza and Court, with cocktails at sunset and dinner under the Piazza, is one of the most distinctive receptions available to couples planning a wedding in Newport.

Russell Morin Catering & Events has built its reputation on a single principle: that every couple deserves personalized, structured planning from the first conversation through the final course of the night. Events at the International Tennis Hall of Fame reward this kind of preparation. Couples who work with a team that knows the venue deeply experience their wedding day with something genuinely rare: calm.

Why Tennis Hall of Fame Couples Choose Russell Morin Catering & Events

Experience at the Hall of Fame is only part of it. Behind every event is a team built to plan carefully, anticipate what matters, and make sure what was promised can actually be delivered.

Food Prepared for the Moment

Our culinary team builds the culinary operation on-site at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, so dishes are finished and served as they were intended. Your menu is developed through a private tasting and shaped around your preferences, the season, and how you want guests to experience the evening.

A Team Built for Your Event

We build each event team around the property, guest count, menu, service style and needs of the celebration, supported by experienced event leadership and Russell Morin's exceptional service standards.

Planning That Connects the Pieces

Food, rentals, staffing, floor plans, timelines, bar service, and venue requirements don't exist independently. Our team considers how decisions affect one another so that changes in one part of your event don't create surprises somewhere else.

A Final Layer of Operational Review

Before your wedding day, our Event Logistics team reviews the details alongside your Event Producer, from the floor plan and timeline to culinary, staffing, rentals, and venue requirements. It's an additional layer of accountability designed to make sure what has been planned can be executed as promised.

What You Need To Know About Planning a Wedding at International Tennis Hall of Fame

Frequently Asked Questions

Russell Morin caters weddings, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, corporate outings and social events at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. Our experience on the property also extends to the Hall of Fame Open, which we've catered for more than a decade. Across the tournament's typically nine days, our team provides concessions for up to 3,000 attendees per day, meals for the players, and hospitality across several VIP and sponsor locations. That range of experience — from an intimate rehearsal dinner to nine days of tournament operations — gives our team a deep understanding of the property and what it takes to deliver exceptional hospitality within it.

It depends on much more than how many people a space can technically accommodate. Style of service, menu, how you want to use the space, and elements like lounge furniture, dance floors, specialty furniture, lighting, custom builds, and your inclement weather plan all affect the footprint of an event.

From our experience as a preferred catering partner, we find these guest counts provide flexibility for menu, furniture, service, and guest flow:

  • Horseshoe Piazza & Court: Approximately 100–120 guests for a plated wedding with dancing.
  • Horseshoe Piazza & Court: Approximately 175-200 guests for a cocktail-style reception.
  • Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch: Approximately 50 guests for an intimate plated dinner or rehearsal dinner.

Different event formats can work well with larger guest counts. For example, we've catered seated dinners on the Horseshoe Piazza, without a dance floor at higher guest counts, because the event requires a different footprint.

These are not venue capacities. Official capacities, space availability, and permitted uses are determined by the International Tennis Hall of Fame. We use these ranges to help our clients understand how their guest count affects the event they want to create.

Yes. We've been part of many wedding ceremonies at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and most commonly see them take place on the historic Horseshoe Court. It's a stunning setting for a ceremony and allows guests to experience the court itself before the celebration continues throughout the property.

Inclement weather options may include the Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch, or the Horseshoe Piazza, depending on the spaces you've secured with the International Tennis Hall of Fame, your guest count, and the overall event plan.

We believe a strong inclement weather plan should be part of the event plan from the beginning. If a rain tent has been secured for the Horseshoe Court, there may be flexibility to preserve much of the original layout and flow. Depending on guest count and the spaces secured through the International Tennis Hall of Fame, a ceremony may also be able to move to the Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch, while cocktail hour and dinner remain on the Horseshoe Piazza & Court.

Understanding your priorities is important. If an event needs to move into a smaller covered footprint, certain elements of the original design may need to be adjusted, such as lounge areas, larger custom builds, or specialty furniture.

We like to work through those scenarios early in the planning process so everyone understands what Plan A and Plan B look like well before the forecast matters. As your caterer, we can help facilitate those conversations with the Hall of Fame and your event partners, so you can move forward with clear expectations and peace of mind.

Our culinary team completes advance preparation at Russell Morin's commissary, but food is cooked, finished, and plated on-site at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

For events on the Horseshoe Piazza & Court or Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch, we utilize the existing catering tent on the property and may bring in additional culinary production space depending on the menu, guest count, and service expectations. For events on the East Porches, we coordinate the appropriate catering tent and culinary setup.

The kitchen your guests never see has a direct impact on the experience they do see. Its size and setup determine how much food can be finished at once, how quickly courses can leave the kitchen, how much room the culinary and service teams have to work, and how efficiently individual plates can reach your guests.

We design that operation around your specific event so that when dinner begins, you aren't thinking about any of those things. You're sitting down, enjoying your meal, and experiencing the evening alongside your guests.

Yes. In fact, we think this is one of the most exciting ways to experience the property during a Newport wedding weekend.

For a more intimate rehearsal dinner, guests can explore the Museum Galleries before gathering for dinner at the Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch. From there, the evening can transition to the Horseshoe Piazza & Court as more guests arrive for a larger welcome celebration.

A cocktail-style reception works particularly well for a welcome party. Instead of another formal dinner, the evening can be designed for mingling and conversation with a combination of passed hors d'oeuvres, displays, chef-attended stations, and even passed small plates.

All event spaces, access, and availability are secured directly through the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Once you know which spaces are part of your event, we can help you think through how to use them together to create a natural progression throughout the evening.

One of the things we love about catering at the International Tennis Hall of Fame is the ability to give different parts of an event their own setting and energy.

For a wedding, that might mean a ceremony and cocktail hour on the historic grass court, followed by dinner on the Horseshoe Piazza. For a rehearsal dinner, guests might explore the Museum Galleries, gather for an intimate dinner at the Hall of Famer's Gallery & Porch, then transition to the Horseshoe Piazza & Court for a larger welcome reception.

The Upper and Lower East Porches can create another multi-level experience, with dinner upstairs followed by a welcome reception downstairs.

We think about those transitions as part of the event itself: how guests move, what they experience next, and how food, beverage, furniture and service need to change with them.

All event spaces, access, and availability are secured directly through the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Our role is to help you make the most of the spaces you've selected.

Yes. Russell Morin offers a variety of bar options for events at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and can provide beer, wine, spirits, non-alcoholic and zero-proof beverages, mixers, ice, glassware, bartenders, and liquor liability coverage.

We can help build the beverage experience around the event, whether that's a full bar, beer and wine, signature cocktails, zero-proof options, or a combination designed for different parts of the evening.

Yes. We can coordinate the rentals needed for your event, and design the floor plan around your guest count, menu, style of service, and overall vision.

Because those decisions are interconnected, we consider more than where tables fit. Bars, culinary production, service paths, dancing, lounge furniture, specialty rentals, and inclement weather plans all need to work together.

We collaborate with the International Tennis Hall of Fame to ensure the final plan works within the requirements of the property, while supporting the experience we've planned together.

Yes, and we'd love to. There is something special about being part of more than one event during a wedding weekend. As the weekend unfolds, our team gets to know your guests, their preferences, and the people who are most important to you. That allows us to personalize the service even further from one event to the next.

Your rehearsal dinner can feel intimate, your welcome party relaxed and social, and your wedding entirely its own experience. The food, setting, and style can change while the level of care remains consistent.

Your events don't all need to take place at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Russell Morin can cater celebrations throughout Newport and the surrounding area, allowing the weekend to move between locations while maintaining continuity in the exceptional hospitality your guests experience.

As soon as you're considering a date. We intentionally accept a limited number of events each day, so every event has access to the culinary, service, planning, and production resources it requires, including the depth to support a strong backup plan when something changes.

Popular Newport wedding dates can book well in advance, so you don't need to wait until every detail has been decided to start the conversation. If you're considering the International Tennis Hall of Fame, we'd be happy to begin talking about your guest count, priorities, and the kind of experience you're hoping to create.
