We actively promote waste minimization and recycling throughout our operations. By participating in bokashi composting and utilizing the resulting compost in our garden, we give new life to organic waste. Additionally, we are proud to recycle cardboard, glass, plastic, and cans as part of our commitment to reducing landfill waste. Our efforts extend beyond composting and recycling–we have eliminated Styrofoam from our environment and prioritize the use of eco-friendly cleaning supplies.
Reusable and Sustainable Practices
During our full-service events, we embrace reusable ceramic dishes, cotton linens, glassware, and stainless flatware. By opting for durable and long-lasting items, we significantly reduce single-use waste. Our commitment to reuse ensures that these materials are enjoyed for many celebrations, lessening their impact on the environment. In our Fresh Eats division, we utilize compostable disposables, allowing for convenient and sustainable options that align with our commitment to reducing single-use plastics.
Food Rescue and Donations
To combat food waste, we actively participate in a food rescue plan in collaboration with Brown University. This program enables us to donate excess food from events that do not reach full participation. By redistributing these meals, we help reduce waste and support local communities in need.
Water Efficiency
We encourage our office employees to embrace water efficiency by using reusable and refillable water bottles and cups. This simple change helps minimize the consumption of single-use plastics. Moreover, our flight dish machine is designed for optimal water usage, ensuring efficiency during the cleaning process and reducing water waste.
Sustainable Purchasing
We prioritize sustainable and locally sourced purchases whenever possible. We always look to purchase our food from sustainable or local sources, supporting nearby farmers and reducing the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation. We dedicate 36% of our food purchases to vegan options, showcasing our commitment to offering sustainable and plant-based choices. 100% of our seafood purchases adhere to sustainability standards, and our poultry is sourced from free-range suppliers, promoting responsible and ethical practices.
Employee Commuting
We actively promote sustainable commuting practices among our employees. For full-service events, our trucks are driven with multiple culinary team members on board, maximizing efficiency and reducing individual commuting. To minimize transportation emissions further, we provide vans for our front-of-house staff when events are located more than 50 miles away.
